(august 17, 2018). jackson park hospital (erma croom, director of gilead ministry, chicago, il) wrote to say that she leaves her position as director of gilead ministry at jackson park hospital. her last day is july 16, 2018. she wrote, "...the future of gilead ministry at jackson park hospital is uncertain at this time and thus no other donations of baby items are needed until further notice." she thanked care wear volunteers participants for ongoing support. she wrote, "...it has been a pleasure to partner with you and all of the wonderful volunteers who ontributed som many beautiful handmade items for the mothers and their newborn babies at jackson park hospital. i am eternally grateful to all of you for your generosity." (june 28, 2018) randall children's hospital at legacy emanuel (attn: child life program, 2801 n. gantenbein avenue, portland, or 97227) is a new addition to the hospital ist. requesting blank cloth medical-surgical dolls in natural color (off-white or light tan--not darker colors because markers do not show up on the darker fabrics). cute flannel hospital gowns in kid-friendly patterns for boys & girls are welcomed. contact person is: mckenzie fletcher-mfletche@lhs.org or 503-413-1068. urgent need at this time (june 13, 2018). patterns for hospital gowns in the march 2017 newsletter on this website (pages 20 & 21), kennedy krieger institute (attn: child life & therapeutic recreation dept. , 707 north broadway, baltimore, md 21205) requests surgical dolls in a variety of skin tones (especially dark skin tones are needed), cloth doll sized outfits or cloth doll sized hospital gowns, and fleece blanets in child & teen friendly colors for pediatric & teen patients when they admit to the hospital (school age & teens are most common age of patients). two simple patterns for hospital gowns to fit the medical-surgical doll are printed in the march 2017 newsletter posted on this website (see newsletters). see pages 20 and 21 of the march 2017 issue. for information or questions, contact sheree sheffer at sheffer@kennedykrieger.org. (april 17, 2018) eagle scout project: zack fereno wrote to care wear volunteers to request assistance with his eagle scout project in memory of audrey grace. his goal of 100 preemie hats has been accomplished, but he has only 18 of the 50 promised blankets (36" x 40"). if you would be willing to make a knit, crochet, or fleece blanket that measures 36" x 40" or a quilt of the same dimensions, please mail to zack fereno, 3262 oakland square drive, bethlehem, pa 18030. if you live close by, zake will pick up donated blankets (zfereno15@gmail.com). blankets will be donated to st. luke's hospital in bethlehem, pa. the deadline for his project is may 31st. zack has a facebook page (zachary fereno's eagle scout project) about his project. thank you for any assistance you can provide to zack. (april 12, 2018) childrens hosiptal of pittsburgh. the nicu is only accepting fleece blankets at this time. all donations should be in plastic bags with a label that says, "handmade item, please wash first" (march 9, 2018 update to listing) generation hope (attn: michelle avelino, 415 michigan ave ne, suite 250, washington, dc 20017) requests baby blankets, winter hats, scarves, and mittens for infants and toddlers, and toys (bunnies, etc.)to help teen parents striving to complete their college education. contact: 202-656-9539 or michelle@supportgenerationhope.org (february 1, 2018) nationwide children's hospital (columbus, oh) reports that they receive a large volume of items from their local community. do not send items to this hospital. (january 27, 2018) kennedy krieger institute (baltimore, md) reports a good supply of medical-surgical dolls and doll gowns, but currently is in need of fleece school age boy/teen boy blankets to add some color to their hospital room. colors like primary blue, navy blue, lime green, or popular boy characters are ofen requested. (january 23, 2018). carepoint health (attn: liz koropsak, rn, nursing office, 29 east 29th street, bayonne, nj 07002) requests bereavement garments and sacques as well as adult blankets and quilts. (january 19, 2018) fairchild medical center (yreka, ca) added blankets and full-term caps to its list of needs. (november 16, 2017) the james m. stockman cancer institute (frederick memorial hospital, frederick md) asks us to hold deliveries of hats, shawls, etc. until they evaluate needs, supplies, storage space, etc.. (oct. 16, 2017). kennedy krieger institute (baltimore, md) reports a good supply of medical-surgical dolls, but needs gowns for those dolls (pattern in march 2017 newsletter on the care wear volunteers website. (october 16, 2017) children's minnesota volunteer services (minneapolis campus) wrote to request that their hospital listing be removed from the care wear volunteers website. please do not send or deliver anything to this hospital. (august 28, 2017). indian path medical center (attn: family childbirth center--brandi elam, rn, 2002 brookside drive, kingsport, tn 37660) . new hospital listing requesting bereavement garments and sets especially for 16-20 week fetusus. (august 22, 2017). johnson city medical center march 2, 2018 update: well stocked at this time. call before sending anything. (attn: laura hicks, bsn, family birth center, 400 north state of franklin, johnson city, tn 37604) is a new hospital listing that requests bereavement sets and garments of all types and sizes--from 18 weeks to full term sizes. contact laura hicks (laura.hicks@msha.com or 423-431-6183) for additional information. (august 3, 2017) multicare health system (tacoma general hospital, mary bridge children's) asked to have their listing removied from the website. they receive a large assortment of finished items from area residents and are overwhelmed with deliveries. please send finished items elsewhere. (august 3, 2017) brackenridge--university medical center (austin, tx) closed . burial gowns requested--especially for boys--by shady grove medical center (attn: director, volunteers, 9901 medical center drive, rockville, md 20850.
